Frequently asked questions
Is the size of each part exact?
It is approximate. A PDF is composed of whole pages that cannot be split mid-page. The engine estimates how many pages fit within the target MB and adjusts accordingly, but the actual result may vary slightly depending on the content of each page.
How is this different from 'Split PDF'?
'Split PDF' divides the document into specific page ranges or intervals you define. 'Split PDF by Size' automatically splits by a maximum MB per fragment, without requiring you to know the exact page count.
How many parts does it create?
The number of parts depends on the size of the original file and the MB limit you set. There is no artificial cap on the number of fragments; the process continues until the entire document is covered.
Is any quality lost when splitting the PDF?
No. Pages are copied in full with their original vector content, images, and fonts — no recompression or quality degradation occurs.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The splitting process runs in your browser memory using pdf-lib. Your documents are never transmitted to an external server.
