Frequently asked questions

What types of PDF forms are supported?
Only PDFs containing standard AcroForm fields (the native PDF standard) are supported. XFA forms (Adobe's proprietary technology used by some Adobe LiveCycle-generated PDFs) are not supported. If the PDF has no defined fields, the tool will alert you.
What field types can be filled?
Supports text fields (single-line and multiline), checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdown lists. These are the four most common AcroForm field types in standard forms.
Does the exported PDF keep the fields editable?
Yes. The exported PDF retains AcroForm fields with the values you entered. The form is not automatically flattened, so it remains editable in Adobe Reader or other viewers. To make it non-editable, use BreadPDF's Flatten PDF tool.
What if the PDF is password protected?
If the PDF is encrypted with form editing restrictions, fields may not be accessible. First unlock the document with BreadPDF's 'Unlock PDF' tool and try again.
Are my forms uploaded to an external server?
No. Field detection uses pdf.js and value saving uses pdf-lib — both running entirely in your browser memory. Form data never leaves your device.
